In 1965, she won a prestigious John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, the only painter to receive this award that year. Her early work featured collages and figurative works on paper. For students pursuing their education at LAVC, the Grossman Family Endowed Scholarship is an excellent option. This scholarship is given to students who show academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and financial need. The award will go to one student per year.
National Notary Foundation
The National Notary Foundation is dedicated to helping students pay for their education. The foundation has been helping students since 1992 and is supported by the National Notary Association, which has over 4.5 million members. The foundation has established two $500 scholarships to help students who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism. It also awards a Bob Oberstein scholarship for a United States Military veteran.
One scholarship is named after the late Dr. Stewart Marsh, a former administrator of the Los Angeles Valley College. This scholarship is awarded annually to students majoring in business. Institute by Lee and Anna Strasberg
The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute honors the groundbreaking work of Lee Strasberg, creator of The Method. The institute focuses on actor training and outreach, preserving the Institute's archival materials, and upholding Lee Strasberg's legacy as a seminal figure in the American theatrical tradition.
The Institute was founded in 1969 and is headquartered in Union Square. It also has a secondary campus in Los Angeles. The Strasberg family has a long history in New York, partnering with the Tisch School of the Arts for over 40 years to provide a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Anna Strasberg, Lee Strasberg's third wife, and their son John Strasberg all attended the school, and they continued to collaborate with the school.
The Institute offers a two-year Associate degree program, along with short-term and part-time options. It also offers invite-only Lab classes for working actors and advanced students.
Reiner Memorial Scholarship
The Eleanor B. Reiner Foundation endowment makes it possible for the Reiner Memorial Scholarship in Los Angeles to be awarded each year to worthy students. This scholarship is open to first-year college students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and significant public service or nonprofit involvement. The scholarship is awarded to a maximum of two students each year.
Applicants must be full-time students in the Fall term. They must have completed at least 12 college credits and must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and write a letter outlining their desire to pursue higher education. The deadline to apply is June 30.
The Reiner Memorial Scholarship in Los Angeles is a one-time award that will benefit a student studying a related field, such as biology. The recipients must have a minimum grade of “A” in Biology 3 to be eligible for the scholarship.
Ageton-Pittenger Perpetual Scholarship
The Ageton-Pittenger Perpétual Scholarship in Los Angeles is offered by the Biology Department of Los Angeles Valley College. It will benefit a student with outstanding academic merit. This award will be given to a student who is enrolled in at least 6 units in the Spring Semester of the academic year.
This scholarship is made possible through a partnership between the LAVC Foundation and SoCal Gas. It will encourage underrepresented students to contribute to the state's energy and environmental issues by developing solutions based on all-natural resources. This year, five students will receive varying amounts of the scholarship. One of the students will receive a $250 scholarship in memory of LAVC alum Melissa Gordon.
The Ageton-Pittenger Perperpetual Scholarship is available to students who have demonstrated a financial need and have demonstrated academic excellence. The award is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
